Stephen Sussna
Stephen Sussna is a Professor of Law Emeritus – Baruch College, City University of New York.
During World War II he served as a sailor on LST 1012 which participated in Operation Dragoon on August 15, 1944.
At Les Invalides in Paris, on June 5, 2009, Dr. Sussna received the French Legion of Honor for his service during WWII. He and other recipients were guests of the French Government.
As a night school student, he completed a B.S.S. degree in Economics from C.C.N.Y.; M.P.A. and Ph.D. degrees from New York University; and a law degree from Fordham University. Dr. Sussna is a charter member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and a member of the N.Y. and N. J. Bars.
Since l956, he has served the U.S. Corps of Engineers, H.U.D., state and municipal governments throughout the United States. Sussna has been retained by building, industrial, real estate development companies, and major law firms. The Science and Technology Commission of China was one of his clients.
He has written and lectured extensively on environmental, housing, planning, transportation and zoning topics. His publications have been cited by Appellate Courts, Harvard Law Review, U.S. Senate, Treatise Writers, New York Times, American Bar Association and others.
Dr. Sussna and his wife Marian celebrated their 57th anniversary on July 3, 2012. They are the parents of Alan Sussna and Amy Sussna Klein and grandparents of Benjamin, Daniel and Jennifer Sussna and Sarah Klein.
Marian and Steve Sussna currently reside in New York City.
